WHITE ALLIES FOR RACIAL JUSTICE

White Allyship to Action (WATA) works towards a world where white educators leverage their privilege and power to support BIPOC leaders, young people and community members, and take bold action to end white supremacy in our schools and communities. We imperfectly fight racism by constantly learning, reflecting, and putting our own privilege and power on the line. We do professional development for faculty, staff, and students here at UMass and also in the surrounding school districts. We connect folks to resources, and we host workshops and events.

“The true focus of revolutionary change is never merely the oppressive situations which we seek to escape, but that piece of the oppressor which is planted deep within each of us, and which knows only the oppressors.”

-Audre lorde
